Would love to see actual balance after every transaction. YNAB has this feature and I loved it. I was also able to reconcile my account balance every month. Made it very convenient even when the account was linked. Once reconciled, I could opt to "hide" the transactions and only see the ones not reconciled. Kept everything clean and compact.

Yes, please. It would make reconciliation much easier. And I love the FBAR angle!

Would definitely like to see this feature … with a toggle to turn the column off and on for those that don’t need it. I would especially like it for Foreign Bank Account Reconciliation (FBAR) reporting for US taxes where you must report on the highest balance held in an account during the tax year. So it would also be helpful to sort transactions in an account by the running balance from highest to lowest for that purpose to make it easy to find the highest balance. Thanks!

All transactions should show balance column

This is basic for any personal financial management software. Every transaction should show a new balance next to it. IMHO this should have been present in LM from day 1, and I really don't understand why it is not there. It's glaring in its absence.
One major use for this is that when LM's balance does not equal my bank's on any given account, I can peruse the balance column to see where they diverged.
Why is this missing?

Running Balance

The running balance should display the current balance as each transaction is entered and update automatically, shown next to the amount column. This will make it easier to immediately confirm whether the account is balanced, without needing to check the overall account balance.

This would be incredibly useful. I have no way to forecast cash flow without a running balance, ideally one that is also present for upcoming scheduled transactions.
I know this will be tricky, since the account view seems to be filter on transactions globally. But the payoff would be huge in that it would also enable the other very requested feature of calendar balances.
You could conceptually keep the same filtering concepts that are very useful everywhere, but when the account is selected, pass the balance as of the starting date, and then easily calculate the running balance. A wrapper that just extends the current filter concept when account is clicked. (Sure there is a lot more to it, just giving some food for thought).

Jen from Lunch Money Din from Lunch Money - any timeline when a running balance column can added to Lunch Money?
Din from Lunch Money
Ryan: Hi, thanks for checking in! We don't currently have a timeline to share for this, but it's definitely on our radar. We’ll be sure to update the status here with any developments! :)

This would be very helpful. One particular reason is that to fill out my FBAR each year for taxes, I need to find the highest balance for each foreign account. Not all banks make this easy to see (some make it impossible). The simplest way has always been to scroll through an account and just note the highest balance.

This is one feature I really miss from YNAB — a running balance displayed with the transactions.
