Default new transaction currency per bank account

Currently, new transactions always have the currency set to the Primary Currency by default. It would be great if the currency was automatically set based on the bank account's balance when using the "Add to [account]" options in the 'Add transaction' drop-down.
For example, if Account A's balance is in EUR, the in-line transaction entry for 'Add to Account A' option should have the amount automatically set to EUR.

Also, we should be able to FILTER BY CURRENCY, so at least we could verify if we have mistakenly added a wrong currency to a specific bank account. Not sure if there is already another ticket for this filter.

Hey Marcus, thanks for the feedback! Yes, there's a separate ticket for filtering by currency: https://feedback.lunchmoney.app/transactions/p/filter-transactions-by-currency
Please consider upvoting the ticket to show your support and to be notified of any developments! 🙂

This bug also affects CSV imports, undermining the purpose of such imports, which is to enter transactions in bulk, avoiding the need to edit individual transactions.

This also sometimes frustrates me.
It would be great if the bank's currency was taken when adding a transaction, especially critical when I selected a specific bank on the dashboard and followed a link like https://my.lunchmoney.app/transactions/2026/03?asset=XXXXXX

UPVOTE! So often I missed one so the balance doesn't tie out and I'm scrolling the screen looking for the wrong currency symbol. Even a rule that let's me set the currency would help.

Yes! It's one speed bump to quickly creating a transaction, and also makes it easy to put in the incorrect amount if not being extra careful (during those quick transaction creations).

I remember it already worked like this at some point in the past.

I would very much like this to be added. The accounts already have their currency set during setup, so it seems like such a simple solution to fix a very big frustration when you have to change the currency on every single transaction in the account.

I may have missed that completely, but I actually looked for exactly that: where should I select the Account's currency?, and was not able to find it.
In the end I set the initial balance of each new account, with its currency, event if the amount was zero. But I did not know if this initial currency would be the one selected for transactions in and out of the account. From this post, it seems it is not
