I want auto rule generation on. But for a bunch of things, I don't want auto rules generated. Sometimes ABC Gas is cat Gas - Van, sometimes it's Gas - Car, sometimes it's Groceries. Need a way to leave auto rule generation on, but allow be to block it on 'ABC' being part of payee for example. And any other character string I want to block it on. I am continuously deleting newly created rules. I don't want to have to select a box while categorizing the transaction. Maybe this would cause more help requests though, I can see that angle.

Yes, this is a big issue for generic Payee that could be used for anything (PayPal, HelloAsso, etc.)
I tried to make my rule: Do not set category + Stop processing other rules, but to no avail, it will keep creating the new rules.
The only way out I can see is to create a dummy category "To categorize" and Create a rule to set the item to that category. But it's easier to forgot to categorize that later than an empty Category which is easy to stop in the transaction table. Unless you name the dummy category "🚨 TO CATEGORIZE 🚨"…
