Create "Difference Total" in "Overview" panel on the right side of the screen

It would be quite lovely to have a "total difference" line item which lets you know how "on budget" you are for a given time period. The closer this number is to 0, the closer you are to being exactly on budget. The higher this number is, the more over-budget you are, etc.
Basically it would be calculated just by adding up all the "difference" columns in the budget.

Same here! I think a "total" status bar would be a great addition under the expenses header showing how on track you are and how far through the month you are (similar to how it is displayed for individual categories and category groups). Then the "Difference Total" would just be the value displayed in the "Safe to Spend" column.
It is rare I meet my budget on the individual categories; some I will overspend, others I will underspend. However, even if I overspend in some categories, if I underspend enough on others, I will still meet my savings goals. So, understanding how well I am tracking towards my overall budget is really valuable for me and I wish it was easier to track within Lunch Money.

Paddy Moran: My thoughts exactly. It's almost impossible for me to hit my categories individually—but knowing holistically where my budget is would be a big win.
