Support selecting +/- amount type when creating Recurring Items
R
Robert
The AT&T is an expense. The transfers are recurring items of money coming back to cover part of the AT&T expense. The tooltip adds everything together as if it's all expense.
It should be:
$208.73 - $67.69 - $45.52 = $95.52
For the "Be sure to pad your budget by..." section.

Hey Robert! Thanks for writing in and happy to help here— I had a look on my end, yet could not reproduce this issue. Could you please confirm how you have your recurring items set up on the Recurring page? If you'd prefer to share in private, you can open an in-app support ticket here: https://my.lunchmoney.app/settings?show_feedback=question

Din from Lunch Money I found the issue I had.
The Expected Amount in the recurring item needed to be set to + (credit/income). It was set to - (expense).
The confusion came from that the Recurring Rule was set to look for income/credit transactions and the Recurring Items Amount column shown shows up in green font as a credit, but the Recurring Items Expect Amount toggle option is what is used in the budget option.
I have these in a "Phone" Category that is not selected to be "Treat as Income", so when Recurring Item is created, it assumes it's an expense even if it's a negative value (credit). So after you create the recurring item, you have to manually toggle the Expected Amount.

Robert: Ah, thanks for clarifying! Yes, the amount type is set by default when creating new Recurring Items, based on the category type (expense category or income category).
In this case, I went ahead and updated the title of this ticket to reflect this! :)
