When you have the "Align months between views" option enabled, and are on a custom budget period (not by calendar month), it will always default to the earliest period in the current month, instead of the current period.

For example, if you have a custom period of "every 2 weeks" and November has the following periods:

It will default to Oct 24, 2025 - Nov 6, 2025, because that's the period that contains the 1st day of the month. Instead, it should default to the current period for the current month.
