My bank is already going a good job a giving base categories to my transactions. For instance, I would have certain transactions associated to my bank's native "Books, Magazines" category (translating from French) (screenshot 2). I verified my Auto-categorization settings and the closest I see is General merchandise > "Bookstores and newsstands (Books, magazines, and news)" (not 100% sure because it's translating from my bank language to English, but that sounds about right) which is then mapped to Books, Media (LunchMoney category) (screenshot 1).
However, after linking my bank account and syncing the transactions for the first time, I see that almost all my transactions are still in the generic category "Payment, Transfer" (screenshot 3).
I thought that maybe it was just the initial sync being a bit outdated, so I wanted to force re-run categorization, but the button is greyed out "No categorizations to re-run" (screenshot 1).
I'm gonna setup rules eventually but it would help me if the initial auto-categorization was working from the first sync, or at least if I could force re-running it now. I'm particularly bothered as I'd rather have transactions fall back to "Uncategorized" which would appear in red and warn me that an action is needed (some of my transactions were Uncategorized, but only a few, I think they were all recurrent payments), whereas "Payment, Transfer" is easier to miss.
By the way, in auto-categorization mapping, only Transfer in > Transfer in, Transfer out > Transfer out and Loan payments > Other payment are mapped to "Payment, Transfer", but they should be the lowest priority, fallback categories. Somewhat they are considered before the more specific "Books". I'm going to remove that mapping just in case.
